There's no room behind it. I had to rig up some 90 degree wire connectors just to mount a switch there for our driving lights, and even that barely fits.

I Bought a Mygig!
I bought a new Mygig off of Ebay this weekend. There were three offered and they were all new in the box out of Michigan (from a plant probably since there are not any in parts or in vehicles yet. The first one went for ~$1,900. I bought mine for much less than that. Now...if I only had the Rubicon to go with it.
The Service Dept at the dealership said that it is an easy plug and play and that the GPS antenna is integrated into the basic radio antenna. The Sirius antenna is separate and will be included as part of the Sirius package.
The only question now is the Uconnect feature. I wonder if the Mygig is set up for it. The Service guy said it was already integrated, but everything I read was UConnect enabled.

jdrogers, thanks!
jdrogers,
Thanks for your help. Sometimes *ha* the dealership folks are crazy. Do you mind sharing any other details that you may have? Such as any other docs you have? Where you got the info etc.? Just trying to be sure I buy all I need to. Do you know what GPS antenna I need? Thanks and feel free to PM me if you need to.

Now, the really bad news comes from Chryslers techauthorityonline web site. I subscriped for 24 hours for $20 to find out everything I could. There is not much there, but there is the service statement that the voice command features and the Uconnect feature WILL NOT function on the Wranglers. Only the Nitro and the Sebring will be factory wired for it and it is NOT considered a valid reason to return the system :( Bummer! It has to do with the microphone being wired into the rearveiw mirror and the Wranglers are not wired to accept the mirror.
Thats all I have at the moment. I will post more as I go through this with my dealership this Thursday. Good Luck!
By the way. You do need both a GPS antenna and a Sirius Satilite antenna. They are not in the unit. The Sirius chip is in the unit, but not the antenna. Fotunately, my Wrangler came with Sirius already set up on the sound system that came with it so I had the Sirius antenna already installed.

OMG!!! jwravin, pls help!
jwravin,
So, of course my heart just dropped! I hope that you are able to find some answers... mine is being shipped as we speak and I would be devastated if the hard-drive and maps do not work. PLEASE PM or reply when you find out more. I would hate to have to try and get a refund for a product that does not meet the description... any idea where our "seller" got these?
Can you send me the part number for the GPS antenna, or is it just the basic Chrysler/Mopar antenna? I'll need to order it ASAP
Did you write that the voice command for the Nav does not work, or/and the UConnect? Seems like the nav would have to work, right?
Thanks for the info!

cjsjeep,
I am including the cut and paste from the Service Bulletin from Chryslers tech site. I am NOT happy about it I can tell you that. As far as how things are going, we did find out that it appears to be a security related issue to prevent thieft. The MyGiG does need to be initialized with either a disc but more likely an uplink to Chrysler to "unlock" and setup the system. It also registers that serial number with the vehicle and current owner. My service rep is working on getting what is needed with Chrysler to get mine up and running. The partition that has the operating system ships unlocked, but the data portion where the NAV maps, Gracenotes database and storage areas are all shipped locked.
As far as the Voice commands and UCONNECT, we are SOL. Seems that the Jeep site should NOT be touting these feature if they know they are not going to work on Wranglers!!!! And it also seems Jeep owners should pay less for a system that does not 100% function in Jeep vehicles!!!
Here is the cut and paste I mentioned
SUBJECT:
UCONNECT And Voice Recognition Operation
MODELS:
2007 (JS) Sebring
2007 (JK) Wrangler
2007 (KA) Nitro
DISCUSSION:
On 2007 Sebring and Nitro vehicles, the Voice Recognition and U-CONNECT selections
for RES and REQ (RET and REL International radios) radios will only work if the vehicle is
equipped with the factory installed Uconnect Hands-Free feature (sales code RSP).
On 2007 Model year Wranglers vehicles, the Voice Recognition and U-CONNECT
selections for RES and REQ (RET and REL International radios) radios will not work
because these vehicles do not offer the factory installed Uconnect Hands-Free feature
(sales code RSP). Do not replace radios on Wranglers because these function do not
work.
