I think it also has to be powered (cig lighter on) for the TV out and remote to work also, that's why my battery ended up dieing so fast on my first zune. Ping can verify.

So, if I'm not mistaken, one could subscribe to a daily Internet broadcast (some call them podcast, but I detest that term because it implies only a certain mfg's gear can play what are simply .mp3 files), have it synched to your JK in the garage, and then listen to it on the drive to work each morning. That's something that a certain mfg's gear <cough<cough>apple<cough> doesn't do, right? Okay, they can still listen to the broadcast, but getting it into their vehicle is not nearly as elegant, is it?

Yep, as far as the daily broadcast, zune doesn't auto download daily ones that i know of, I could be wrong. But if you have it setup through a RSS feed and it's downloading to your desktop, you could set it up to download to your zune music folder, zune would pick it up on its initial scan as a new item in the folder, and then when ur zune is searching wifi it will synch up the new file from your jeep.

It is verrrry cool, keep in mind also, that the zune has the ability to wirelessly synch with *other* zunes and download from them if you wish, think how nifty that would be if it had the popularity that the other not-so-feature-filled mp3 player has.

OMG I love zunes!!! My brown 30gb is awesome!!!! To OP, that setup is bamf and the first time that I actually wished I had mygig.

The software takes some getting used to in order to do "uncommon tasks," but once you figure out how to work around it, it can do so much more than those "crapples."

Such as, it took me a while to figure out exactly how to do this, but if anyone is interested I can show you how to take any dvd you have and get it on ur zune, assuming you have a dvd drive on your computer.

I currently have over 50 full dvd's on my zune and if you set the zune software to sync vids to optimize output for tv, you never have to carry a dvd again because the output and sound is almost as good as a dvd. With the dock and the remote, this set up is TOO COOL!!! I can carry my entire collection of GAY-ASIAN-MIDGET-PRON on there!!!

O wait that was on that iPod I got off of ebay...

You will have to send me info on this, does it require downloading a 3rd party ripper?

I use the software "dvd shrink v3.2," and a program that philips electronics sends with their mp3 players called "media converter for philips."

I can email you both of these if you need them. But here is the process FOLLOW EVERY STEP! It seem kind of long and complicated but this is formulated after months of trial and error into the most efficient way.

1. Put your dvd into the player and have dvd shrink open the disk.

2. After it has scanned the disc, click on the "re-author" tab.

3. You will see a whole bunch of titles on the right but one should be by itself and say "main title" it will also be the largest file.

4. click and drag it into the left pane, then hit back up, and for ease of management when prompted change the destination file to your desk top, DO NOT create video and ts subfolders, uncheck that option box.

5. Now it will start saving the file to your hard drive, if the encryption on the disc is too great, it will fail, but this rarely happens, (2 out of over 50 dvd's of mine so far...)

6. It will probably split up the dvd into 4-5 files, but they will be numbered. RIGHT NOW, you need to name them and put numbers by them so that they will show up in order and not get mixed up. CAUTION! Be sure that each file is named EXACTLY the same so that when it gets synced to your zune each movie has all 4 or 5 parts right beside each other and you don't have to go hunting for it, (this was frustrating) for example HitMan 1 and hit Man 2, may not show up beside each other on your zune.

7. Open the media converter for Philips and drag and drop all the of the files you just named. (there will also be back up files, but these are not necessary and can be deleted at this time.)

8. Push the convert button on the philips converter and this will take a while especially with an older computer usualy about 1.5 hours for a whole dvd, but you can do what I do and convert several dvd's at once overnight, of course if you have a newer computer, this shouldn't take long at all.

9. After conversion is complete, go to the destination folder for the converter, usually under my documents arcsoft converter. The files should still have the names that younamed them earlier.

10. Now this is a suggestion and not absolutely necessary but if you have a limited amount of hard drive space, you should delete the original dvd back up files at this time as they take up a bunch of space. I have an external hard drive that I keep these files in sorted out in folders for each individual dvd. I can watch these movies on my comp anytime in the future.

11. Move the converted files into a folder and name the folder the name of the dvd, then move that folder into the folder that your zune monitors for videos, but don't have it auto-sync! Actually it might be better to open the vido pane on the zune software and drag the converted files into it from a folder that is not monitored because...

12. For some reason the zune software will revert back to the original name of the dvd files, not the ones you have named it, but they will appear in order. click the first one and hold shift and click the last one, right click the first one and rename just like you did earlier minus the number designation, (zune will do this automatically.)

13. Now right click them again, (they should all still be highlighted,) and sync with zune.

This is a lot of steps, but as far as I can tell it is the most efficient way, although there are some dvd rippers that can rip the whole movie into 1 file instead of four or five, but that doesn't bother me too much since as soon as one finishes, just go to the next one and it picks up the second the other left off.

If there is any confusion or questions, feel free to ask, I love jeeps and zunes!

I know this is an old thread, but is the dock connected to the mygig via usb or the a/v cables? Anyone try this with a Zune HD and the new dock?
