Default MyGig options RER

Ok, I've been reading for hours on this stuff and I think I'm more confused than before I started as this post will tell you. My MyGig is coming out at the dealership tomorrow for an bug issue. I'm thinking I could put a mic in there and everything else the dealer supplies to make the unit function as it was intended...Bluetooth, etc. UNLESS....Am I to understand that I need an aftermarket Lockpick unit for the RER and you need to pull the radio for installation? (I would not let a dealer do that, obviously)

- Is there anything the dealer could add while the radio is out, or is it pointless because I'll have to take it back out anyway to install a module(s)?

- What are all of the options that I can install on the RER?

Yes, I've read the threads.....

it took me 10 min. to add the mic...pop the top and bottom covers and 6 screws later, my gig is out and u just plug in the mic. Then you turn on the mygig features by holding down the two search buttons and menu button at same time...scroll down to enable VR...you are then good to go.

Can a mygig be installed in an 07 that wasn't meant to have a mygig?

Adding the Mic will enable the blue tooth capabilities. If you want to have video in motion, or to send the video source to other screens for the back seat, or a back up cam you would need to add the lock pick.

Yes as long as you get the high speed can bus system. Most of them are low speed since only a handfull of vehicles from Chrysler use the high speed can bus.

Not really. they don't have the bluetooth module built in.

I think the dealership further confused me yesterday as their parts dept. was trying to tell me that I needed a Bluetooth module that Jeep wasn't selling for the JKs. Now, I knew some guys were using aftermarket stuff, but I thought the Bluetooth portion was already built into the head unit. They said No.

So, in reality, all I need for that portion to work on the RER is to hook up a mic, go through some menu settings and I have it? Sheesh. They could have sold me a mic at minimum yesterday. I have a chance to do it again today as they are installing a new antenna under warranty.

At this point I don't care about the video or backup cam, but I may address that later.

I would like to be able to use an IPOD, however. Will Jeep parts depts. carry that harness? Any other features I can enable today?

Sitting at the dealer waiting on my MyGig issue...talked with parts...no mic for the JK,..but could sell me a "kit" for another vehicle with no guarantee it will work. Does anyone have the part number for just the mic?
I'm on my cellphone here.

Talking to myself here, but after beating up on the parts guys for an hour or so, I bought part 1-82211743. Hope it works.$40.

you can have the mic, the cam, whether you want it to be a back up, forward, or in cab cam, and A/V conection. The dealers will tell you they dont make them for the wranglers, For other chrysler vehicles, it is pre wired, You may find a parts man to help you, or go to lock pick, or all gig Navtv. Good luck
