Default MyGIGs and LOCKPICS

So, I already have a backup camera installed...the video comes through my rear view mirror, but it's hard to see during the day. I want to buy and install a REN MYGIG...I don't need the one with NAVI.

To get my BU camera to work with it, do I need the LOCKPIC or will it work without it?

Anybody know?

I'm 99.99893% sure you need the lockpick.

I installed an RHR and Lockpick v5 and my backup cam works great!

If all you are looking for is the backup cam to come on while you are in reverse, I believe any of the factory touch screen radios (430 or 730...although I am not that sharp on the specific models...ren-rhr etc) will work with the CHYRVD harness that PAC makes, whatever camera you want to use, and the dealer turning the feature on with Starscan. There are a few threads about this. It seems that this is the least expensive and most straight forward way to do it. The harness can be had for less than 40 bucks an plugs directly into the back if the radio. Cameras can be had online starting around 20 bucks up to however much you want to spend. A couple of little odds and ends...wire tap or solder and heat shrink, a double female RCA connector to plug the camera into the harness. Most dealers want to charge to plug their Starscan into the radio...I was quoted from 40 to 100 bucks. Then you just have to figure out how you want to mount the camera. I think it can all be done for $100-150 depending on your choices.

RHR is the 730n (includes sirius and nav).

So how does Nav-tv compare to lockpick?
