Default Is the NAV update disk worth the price?

Have an 08 JK with factory navigation. My house and street were built in 07 so it's kind of annoying it's not even on my GPS, not a huge deal but might update the GPS anyways.

I'm just curious if any one else has done it? And was it worth it? Did they improve the interface or anything?

I know there's a way to download it for free but I've lost the link and instructions on how to do it. I did the upgrade on mine a year or two ago. There was a glitch in the system where if you used the remote start it would occasionally mute the system. Pulling the battery cables off and resetting the computer would work, but the update solved it do in that aspect it was worth it. I don't know if the maps were updated, I never noticed. Anyone here have the info?

What is involved in modifying the files? Also mine is a 2008 l, believe the newer models are Garmin based? And mine was not?

Default 730

I have the 730... why can't they charge like $50 for the updates... that I would pay. $200 is insane! especially when google maps on my iphone is... FREE.

There are a few other threads of updates not being worth it. Saw a number of people fighting for a return. For $150, I'd rather put it toward a different unit. The 730 uses Navteq, which is pretty damn bad. I was just in the Black Hills. Did a search for gas stations. It displayed the nearest being over 800 miles away.......... For everything I've searched and looked, there isn't a way to change the 730 to garmin. If that is available, I'm doing it. Otherwise, probably going to change the whole unit in time.
