Need advice on Alarm system install
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi all
I am getting an alarm installed on the JK 2012...
I know it has a factory one ,but no shock sensor or 2 way remote.
Does anyone see any issues to install an aftermarket alarm?

It's pretty good and capable to upgrade. Most people with Jeeps add a prox sensor for interior security that makes the unit even better. The 2 way makes it nice to not actually have to see the vehicle to know if its locked, unlocked or if your alarm is going off.
Just put in a Audiovox Prestige APS997C Car Alarm/Remote Start in my 2010 Jeep....
I park in a bad part of St. Louis so wanted something that would page me if it went off, made some noise a maybe scared the person off... With a softtop, its a quick slash and grab...
I wired in the lights, horn and siren. Paging keyring works pretty good, went off the other day, tells me what door is open or hood or whatnot.....
Came with a sensor to set off if someone touchs it (and its pretty touchy)
Also has remote start but Im not using it, and a hood pin sensor
Wires were a little overwhelming at first. Watch a few videos and used some sites like Vehicle wiring diagrams to help me find the wires to tap in....
Took me a few hours but in the end... I have a alarm installed. The Blue leds for the alarm "armed" is pretty nice too....
I only picked this alarm because I did a google search and one under this was rated highly... This one gave the better remotes so I went with it. Not a bad unit for $110.00
