Default Need help with factory infinity sub

I have been looking all afternoon for some information about the impedance of the factory infinity sub. I have found a few threads in here that talk about the infinity sub and some information on the web, but there seams to be conflicting information on the ohms. I stopped by an audio place, but they wanted a retainer just to talk to me and then tried to sell me a whole new system.

Anyway, does any one know the ohms per voice for the sub? And what watts it can take (either per channel or total)?

not 100% - but it likely is 4ohm DVC / I tapped off of the wires between the amp and factory infinity sub by the passenger side, just behind the back seat to a LOC, them wired it to an amp, and to a custom powder coated dual 10/DVC sealed subwoofer / so far no issues ...left the factory sub hooked up for now, will be taking it out for extra room soon...

I don't know the values u ask about but I have a 300 watt Rockford fosgate hooked up to the stock sub and I think I have the gain at about 2 or 3 and I can barely handle it haha. I want to put a different sub in because its pretty damn weak after u start stressing it with more power.

Apeezee,

It sounds like you have the same set up that I am wanting to try. I am thinking about a 200 watt 2 channel amp bridged to the sub. How did you wire in the dual voice?

Default 2 ohm DVC

I have the infinity system in my JK and all the info I found lead me to believe the sub is rated at 2 ohms Dual Voice Coil.

To make sure you could use an ohmeter on the factory sub.

You are right, duel 2 ohm sub. Depending on the amp you are using will determine correct wiring. The sub can only draw a 4 ohm or 1 ohm load. Running speaker wires in "series" as shown in picture will pull a 4 ohm load, most amps can handle this. Does not take much to max this little sub out. Good luck

Perfect Picture of the 2 ohm voice coil

You could also wire each channel up seperately and run the dual 2-ohm with a 2 channel amp. So options are: 4 ohm (series), 1 ohm (parallel), and 2X 2 Ohms. Rather versatile. Make sure the amp can handle the 1 ohm load, if you choose this route. I know my aftermarket amp could not, and ran it with the 2X 2 ohm setup.
