Yes, that information is correct. You do not need to use a cross over if the Infinity amp is installed. The Infinity amp has a built in digital cross over, so it is already removing the low frequencies going to the original JK tweeters. So just plug the new tweeters into the existing speaker wires. The same thing with the woofer speakers. You don't need the cross over from the component setup if you have the Infinity OEM installed, nor should you be using a cross over.

What is currently happening is that high frequencies only are coming out from the infinity amp. You now added a crossover to that audio signal which is additionally reducing level and frequencies, adding phase distortion and then going to the new tweeter you added and will make it sound like a tin can like you are observing.

component speaker system includes 2 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 crossovers
5-1/4" Plus One+ Injection-Molded Polypropylene (IMPP) woofer with hi-roll rubber surround
1" edge-driven textile dome tweeter
Starfish™ mounting brackets for easier tweeter installation in factory locations
2-way external crossover network (18 dB/octave, 3,500 Hz high- and low-pass)
2-ohm impedance for extra power (compatible with virtually all factory or aftermarket car stereos)
tweeter adjustment circuits (0, -3 dB)
power range: 2-75 watts RMS (225 watts peak power)
frequency response: 67-21,000 Hz
sensitivity: 92 dB
top-mount depth: 2-1/4"

My question I am confused about where your coming from is, are you saying to hook the x-overs before going threw the factory amp? Or after the amp? I currently hooked the drivers side up after the amp, and from the cross over installed the woofer and tweeter.
thanks
What I'm saying is throw the cross overs out, because that is why it sounds like crap because you don't need them, if you have the Infinity system installed in your JK.

The speakers you have are fine. A cross over is only needed if the wires connecting to the speakers are at a full bandwidth audio frequency of 20Hz-20Khz.....If you have the Infinity amp, then that is NOT the case.

Took the x-over out on the driver's side and installed the passenger side as instructed. They sound really good now! Thanks for all the input. Now waiting on some 6.5" Infinity reference speakers for the sound bar now. Also been looking around for all in one DVD/recievers for the headunit. Its like an adiction now.. haha

So ditching the x-over that comes w/ the speaker is the way to go?? Seems like it would make installation easier also...

If you have the Infinity amp installed, no x-over is needed. If you don't have the Infinity amp installed then a x-over would be needed.

The reason is that the Infinity amp has 8 channels of output and each speaker in the system is fed by a single dedicated amp channel. On the non-Infinity systems, there are 4 channels from the radio connected to 6 speakers, which means that the front woofer and front tweeter both share a single amplified channel. Due to that, the single channel feeding the 2 front speakers can not limit the frequencies that go to each speaker so a x-over must be inserted to handle that task. So with the non-Infinity JKs you need the x-over.

The tweeters just pop out and you can either use new hardware, or I just used the factory grill to keep it a factory look.
Check out this forum topic https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...peaker+install

For the drivers side just pop off the plastics under the steering wheel and lower dash above pedals, and unbolt approx. 8 bolts. Enough to pull the speaker box out. THere are two gold bolts on the speaker box, and one underneath, and shimmy her out.
