ID:	212309Alright I have two winshield lights I am trying to run off of the battery. They are L.E.D and usually found on boats but they look kinda neat sitting on my jeep

Ok to start it has red and blue wires that when I touch them to the battery (red to pos and blue to neg) the light comes on.

I have daystar rocker switches that have three little males connectors on the back..two on the bottom row and one that looks like its directly behind where the switch clicks.

I have a bunch of these connectors and 40 ft of red and blue 18 gauge wire

SO my question is how do I connect wire from the battery pos/neg to the switch and how to I run the wire from the switch to the lights pos/neg. Any simple diagram will do, just need to know how to run all these correctly. Thank you in advance

!8 gauge may be a bit small. What wattage are the lights?

No drawing but...
Connect an in-line fuse to the battery positive terminal. Run you your red wire up to your rocker switch, most likely one of the two terminals on the bottom is marked for such use. NOTE: your daystar has an input, output and a ground. The ground is the connection that is by itself. The light in the switch will come on when the output side has power if you have that other connection tied to ground.
Run a red wire from the output of your switch up to the light fixture's positive connection.
Run another red wire from the first lamps positive connection to the other lamp's positive connection.
Run a ground for each lamp negative terminal to someplace suitable on the chassis or all the way back to the battery negative connection.

If you wire the switch incorrectly the light will be on all the time.

The method I described requires you to manually turn your lights off or your will run your battery down.

The method is only advised for lower power lights like LED or HID, as the wiring is not sufficient for a high power halogen bulb. For higher power applications or where you want the lights to be controlled by your ignition switch you will need some relays and slightly more complex wiring.

Good luck.

Default Need to use a relay

Frank,
You need to know what the wattage of the lights are (ex 55 Watts). Then you can do a calculation:
55W *2Lights = 110 Total Watts/12 Volts = 9.2 Amps, so a 10 amp fuse should do it. You might want to put a 15 amp in to be sure.

You should always use relays when dealing with electronics that draw quite a bit of amperage and stay on for a while.

Here is a wiring diagram that you can follow

Thank you for the diagram...Like I said I have an :add a line: fuse thing and according to the website these lights
are
Current Draw: 1.8A@12V ,0.9@24V

so I think I will be good just need to make sure I wire it right. I will be working on this tomorrow so if anyone has any other ideas or something Im missing let me know
