Default Nitro amp, Kicker amp, Infinity....help?

So I've been pondering adding an amp. I've been searching and searching and can't get a definitive answer.

If you have a base system, can you add the Nitro amp? Or are you "stuck" ordering the $400 Kicker 4.1 amp (77Kick33)?

If you can add the Nitro amp, how hard is it? What should I be looking for?

As far as a subwoofer goes, how big is the factory Infinity box? Can it hold a single 10? Will it fit in a 2DR JK?

I've got the 77Kick10 speakers in my 2010 JK 2DR, looking for a little more. Not a lot of bass or anything, just a little more punch..

I put a fosgate P3 8" in a factory sub enclosure and it required me to build a 1.5" spacer ring to mount it. The lack of airspace made the sub perform close to stock really. If you want a 10" sub then get ready to lose some room and get the right sized enclosure for it.

The infinity basslink II is a nice size/sound for a JK. Fits in stock location and has a built in amp with a 8" sub and 8" passive radiator. If you don't have an infinity system now (I don't think you do since you are asking about the sub) I would recommend you get your sound from the front 2 channels instead of the rear as they get more low end frequencies.

I would suggest that you get a powered sub. The Infinity Baselink or a Bazooka powered sub would be a good option. I would suggest looking on craigslist, there are a number of used bazookas in my area.

i'd also like to find out the answer to the amp question, been looking on jeep sites but never asked just searched. is there anything in the dodge/chrysler/jeep parts bin we can use as an amp that'll work with the base system? again, just an upgrade not looking for big sound.

The stock infinity system is FAIR, adding a differant sub really isn't gonna help much. I added a fosgate amp and dual 10 box and it sounds pretty good. Again, if you want a great system you'll have to dump some cash, starting with the head unit.

You could get a nitro or JK amp if you really wanted to but by the time you bought all the wiring and had it installed with a dealer flash it would cost more than a whole aftermarket media system with amps. If you want a 5 channel amp to fit in the factory location the Alpine PDX-5 is a 5 channel that will fit right in. It will push your entire system as long as you don't get carried away on the sub.

also if you add more bass/volume to rear speakers (soundbar) you need to stick some dynomat inside the enclosures. Otherwise the bar will buzz.

I found the stock amp and the nitro amp, about $160 respectively for each.

I think the hardest part would be getting the wiring harness and battery + ground wire for it. After that, it's gravy, well, getting it flashed would be tough I suppose.

its not like an aftermarket setup where u just have +, -, rem then signals.

If you go this route you are in for a huge headache IMO.

Right, it should be all done by a wiring harness, right? (Aside from power and ground, even then, it may be factory connected) If you can plug and play the Nitro amp, you should be able to track down the wiring harness for an infinity system and use it in a non-infinity Jeep, along with the JK or Nitro amp, right?

Anyone got some solid, detailed picture of the infinity/Nitro amp in the stock location with how it's mounted and wired? This would be a huge help to me.

My thinking comes from this install guide:

Yes, I understand it's for the add-on amp. But that's what you're doing in essence by adding a stock infinity amp to a non-infinity system. You'd need the factory wiring harness and amp from a wrecked JK with an infinity system in it. Could probably done pretty easily from a junkyard.
