Default OBD II Protocol

I am looking to buy an OBD to USB cable so I can play around with some of the diagnostics applications that are available.

I found a few different models of cables, each supporting a different subset of the OBD II protocol. Does anybody know, exactly, what our JK uses?

From the talks of MyGIGs and what not, I assume our JK uses the ISO15765-4 (CAN-BUS) protocol.

Anybody played around with one of these OBD to USB adapters befores?

I picked up a generic Elm 327 bluetooth enabled OBD-II adapter off eBay. It says it supports all protocols, and sure enough it can read PIDs from my Jeep

Right now I am playing around with the Movi software for OS X. Any other suggestions of good OBD-II software, specifically software for the Mac?
