Does it actually say "Off-Road"? There's an idiot light for the ESP showing a skidding car. We also have a curly-wurly glow-plug heater and water-in-fuel warning lights on the diesels' dash.

It only lights up if you have Nav active on MyGig while off-road (not traveling on a road/highway within the navigation software database). Just in case you aren't aware that you are indeed "off-road".

Pullin your leg.... I remember reading another thread that concluded (for reasons I don't remember) that the "off-road" indicator light is not used in the JK.

Not sure, but I'm guessing Chrysler maybe shares the gauge panel with another vehicle that uses that light??? That would be why we can't find anything else about it on the JK!!!

Let's see, what vehicle would be owned by a driver so dumb that he needed to be notified that he'd strayed off-road? Hmmm-hmmm-hmmm. That's it, Hummer! Oh wait, there's no way that they're sharing parts with Hummer.

Perhaps the instrument panel is shared with the Patriot. I downloaded a 2009 Patriot owners manual and it shows a picture of a light that says "Off Road" and offers this description:

25. OFF ROAD Indicator — If Equipped
The symbol illuminates (is armed) when the 4WD lock
switch is activated and the transmission range indicator
is in LOW or REVERSE position.
