Default Off road Lights

Not sure where this goes so mods please move where needed.

When people flash me, it really pisses me off, so I flash back. I've decided to go with some off road lights to blind them but don't know which ones. I've looked at some HID lights but they take a few seconds to warm up. I'm looking for something that is pretty damn bright but don't want to spend a $1k on them either. Suggestions?

I gotta agree with the Toad. You don't have any information in your sig so I'm not sure if you have a lift. Mine is lifted 4" and it was always shining in everyone's windows. I used the adjusters (3-1/2 turns out) to get them back down on the road where they belong. If you flash your offroad lights in other drivers eyes, all you'll be doing is giving Jeepers a bad rep (not good for the offroad community). Look on the writeup forum and there are instructions on how to fix the problem.

i ain't too much concerned with how the public views the "Jeep community" but if ur flashing ur headlights back at someone that does it to u, u might just b an ass. first of all they may be blinded by your low beams bcuz they re not adjusted correctly. Secondly, in this neck of the woods people flash the headlights when they see SMOKY HIDING IN THE BUSHES. Even if I'm not speeding or otherwise breakin the law I like to know these things.

I understand what you mean by them flashing there lights at you.You probably do need to adjust your headlights like Toad has said but after that the 6" KC 100 watt's work great and they are not to pricey. Not that you need to blind anyone.

I have to agree with you!! I've adjusted mine and I still get ppl flashing their high beams...What really pisses me off is when I flash them back to show them there on low and they flip theirs back on bright!! On my TJ I had KC slimlites...they worked great and the rear also for the tailgaters who dont understand the meaning of a good brake check!!

I'll give them one chance just incase of a cop or something in the road....But when they flash bright and keep them on, its time to show them WHO has the brightest lights!!!

cmnspwr, I know where you are comming from. I get flashed all the time also. No lift and factory bulbs. Who says lights are dimm? And, it does not hurt to show the other person "the light". As long as you are descrete. Here is what I did. I installed some 130w KC Driving beams on the front bumper and installed auto control to the high beam circuit. When I flash my high beams my KC's flash also. I believe that driving beams are leagle, just like fogs, as long as you use them in a legal fashion.

Well you should be too much concerned about how the public views the Jeep community! Obviously you arent involved in the politics, work and effort by many that fight to keep our lands free for us to enjoy. There is a CONSTANT battle by governments/greenie groups to shut down public access to many areas that we currently have available to wheel. The less responsible we are, the less effective our efforts are. This includes everything from staying on the trails, to not littering, to not flinging rocksmud clods from your mud covered Jeep on the hwy... If all off roaders "aint too much concerned" about it, there will be new laws that require regulation for off road vehicles... Maybe you will be concerned then, but it will be too late. This is a pathetic attitude you have, and you should educate yourself on it. You are the exact image that off-road'ers have to avoid... The last thing we need is everybody hating Jeepers and off-road'ers...

Now, back on topic... I think the nature of the Jeep headlights makes them appear brighter. Since they are higher, even at stock height, they will be brighter to oncoming traffic even if they are aimed correctly. I think round headlight have less control over how how the light goes, and how well the reflector controls the top edge of that beam. Put on a lift and it makes it worse. All we can do is aim them (maybe even lower) and deal with it. Blinding oncoming traffic again makes our image worse, and isnt safe... Just my 2 cents...

Another thing to consider when aiming lights is to aim them with the normal load in the back. If you normally carry a couple hundred pounds in the back this will aim your lights up. Also you could try to change the lens to a Cibie style so that you get a sharper cut off, and better beam pattern so then you won't have to worry as much. As far as aux lights go the IPF 900xs is a great light for the price, as are the KC lights.
