I just downloaded the Offline app but it's not too exciting sitting in the office. I'm going to play with it this weekend tho, after I install my new lift!

Check the maps download files often. Download just the state your in as a feeler. Downloading all the maps (USA & Canada) will require a 2.5 GB SD card or space on your device. So start small and explore. if you're doing the HUD search deep in the app settings for the "flip" screen option or this can be achieved via your smart device options also. When I say "flip" the image on your device will be viewed backwards, yet placing it on your dash will cast the correct origination of the speedometer readings.

You can also check out Navigon. It utilizes GPS/data, but you can download maps by state for offline use (only gps for location). I don't believe you can necessarily download maps or track your routes for trail use. It's pretty awesome though as far as pure gps with no data. I think it was like $60 or something for lifetime useage. I got it for my motorcycle for maps, but now virtually use it for everything and it is pretty solid. Still trying to figure out a decent trail maps as the offroad park nearby doesn't really show up in the Gaia GPS.

Thanks for the input, however our driving style is not to actively seek off road trails, so we've yet to test the offline maps app for these types of trails. But as I said, location an old logging road from time to time is ideal for our driving skills.
