Default Personally installed sound system.

Hello, this is my first time posting here on the foum.

I have received a lot of compliments on my sound system install in my 2013 JKU Sport. I did it all for around a grand. Head Unit, 5 channel amp, all 4 speakers, and a sub.
A lot of people seem to post threads about sub woofer placement. I choose a sub that would fit on the tailgate and mounted it directly to the tailgate. It works awesome. No rattle. I chose a 5 channel amplifier and it fit perfectly inside the rear cargo area. No problems with overheating or anything like that.

Have a look and tell me what you think. Questions? I'll do my best to answer.

Here is the amp installed.

Its a Kicker DX600.5 5 channel amp. fits pretty good in the rear cargo box. just cut some small rectangular holes for the wires and screwed it down to the box.

The subwoofer is a Kicker Pro Comp 10" sub with sealed box for tight bass response. It's sold as one unit, fully assembled and hits hard.

I used the mounting brackets that came with it and mounted it DIRECTLY to the rear tailgate. I used some weather stripping from Home Depot to insulate the brackets from the metal and to help absorb any vibration. I had to remove the long black piece of plastic trim that runs across the tailgate to get a flush mount. It sounds great and doesn't rattle anything inside the tailgate. The beauty of this mount, is that it's PERFECTLY concealed from view when I have the soft top down. It rests over top of it and you can't see it in the back unless you REALLY get in there and look. I love it. doesn't interfere with anything I want to throw in the back either.

Heres how I ran the amp power cord. I used the grommet on the passenger side just beside the front speaker. You just have to poke through the spray foam insulation.

And here is the rear sound bar with Kicker speakers installed. The sound bar is obvious the acoustic weak spot in this vehicle. Hard to get a good seal on the speakers/bracket/sound bar. Caused vibration in the overhead light at certain frequencies. My install some insulation mat later but it works for now. Most of the sound comes from the front anyways.

And then I also installed the amp volume controller under the dash. Doesn't interfere with my legs. Not at all. Easy to reach.

Very nice. I've looked at that amp but worried about under powering the speakers as the rms rating at 4ohms per speaker is pretty low. Install looks great.

I love mine. Play movies from the iPad and iPod through it (even streaming from online). Stream pandora and spotify through Bluetooth or through cable. Through cable have full control of pandora. There is also an app that I can check emails and texts and phone calls and other features on the head unit screen. I have the 7" screen so there is a thin line if buttons on the bottom of it so to me it looks more stock. I can also display the nav on the iphone through the head unit also so I saved money by not getting the nav unit.
