Piaa 530 led fogs

Anyone try out these lights in place of the factory fogs? I have been considering upgrading my fogs to go with my jw speaker mainly because the color difference in the light looks odd to me plus I figured the extra light would be great as well. I know piaa makes great lights and they are cheaper than the vision x fog kit or the jw speaker fogs. I also worry that the cheap led bulbs on eBay might be a fire hazard or something from what I read online? So these piaa LEDs would be awesome if they fit well.

Okay, so I started the install today. I have an AEV bumper, so my reference is only for AEV bumpers. Once I unscrewed the bottom screws, and pulled the mounting bracket off, I was pleasantly surprised that the factory fogs have a pivot point on the side of them. Well, the PIAAs mounting points are on the side, and they screwed right on. The back plastic will need to be dremeled to get the tilt to have full motion (on the bracket, not the light), but in lieu of that, I bolted them back in and just pushed the mount forward a bit and it bent into place. I haven't wired them yet, because I'd like to find some matching plugs that I can plug into the oem wiring without having to cut it off. It was a 10 minute job and the lights are level. As soon as I get them wired I'll post again.

standard wire taps. You can take them off and it's like it never happened.

TJM- I assume you're using the weatherproof posi's? I may actually have some of those. I typically use Molex Perma Seal connectors. Unlike posi taps, they're aren't removable. So much so that you couldn't pull them apart if you tried. But, they are 100% weatherproof and bombproof. They have a sealant/adhesive that seals them when you heat shrink them. I've been using them for years; expensive at about $1 a piece, but well worth it if you want no issues down the road. I'm into longevity as I only want to wire these once. And they always seem to fail at the worst time. Not with Permaseals.

I too have used those and those are great for splices, but with posi-taps you can leave the factory plug intact wich is nice if you ever want to revert back to factory. Check them out

My last order for those was like $200 worth! I have many in almost every model. But, the posi-locks are not weatherproof at all. I know, you can silicone them for a better seal, but for long term, and especially salt exposure, they will allow liquid penetration and corrosion of your wires from inside the jacket. Inside of the cab I use them all of the time. But never on the exterior. I plan on keeping this JK for a long, long time, so I want my wiring to still be intact 10 years from now. For ease of use, the posi-lock products cannot be beat. But they are not the best for exposed connections. Just my two cents.
