Planning my total sound system upgrade..old school style!
It's your time, money, and Jeep. It just sounds like a lot of wasted time, money, parts to likely not sound as good as it could using fewer but better parts. If seems as though you are all over the board with what you are trying to get out of it and that usually means you end up with a product that is only 1/2 good at anything because of all of the compromises. Part of why I say this is that if I read your description correctly, it sounds as though you are going to be trying to tune 11 speakers on 8 channels of sound time aligned through the audio processor, which, while it's not impossible, is difficult to say the least, not to mention the adding in the acoustics of the vehicle and all of the different directions the sound will be coming at you. I just like to see people get astounding results with minimal complications. Good Luck with it.
The MS8 gives you the ability to have multiple "tunes", so my install is geared towards having good imaging and sound for the driver without additional processing. The processor will let me select a tune that makes compromises in my listening position but makes it sound better when someone is in the passenger seat also.
But I do understand your point. The best system I ever had was an ADS component system in front off a Soundstream Reference amp and 2 10's in the trunk off an old Orion amp. Simple, clean and clear. Perfect from the drivers position only, but acceptable from the passengers side.

Not my style at all, but i am very impressed by the diy factor, you've got some good skills and it looks great! Cant wait to see it done.Looks like i might even be able to hear it from here when your done...
I figured some discussion about audio could still be posted here. What speaker was it that you ran for your center channel? I didn't know if you knew much about the B&g Neo 8s or the fountek neos. I've heard great things and saw a guy on one of the forums I'm on glass two of them in the a pillars. Didn't know if you wanted to check them out as they might be more what you wanted than you already had. The b&g are planars and the fountek are ribbons. From what I've read the fountek are better, and the price reflects it.

Yeah, I 'll keep the stereo discussion going here. I just figured the details of building the trunk enclosure didn't really belong here. I have read about the Fountek's, but after playing around with the CDT tweeter and mid, I think I will be able to get everything I need from them. If not.....
The planar speaker I used is the Harmon/ JBL like is used in the Logic 7 systems and in several other vehicles. So far it seems to sound good, I'll know more once everything is in and I can start tuning.
I took a break from the wood working this afternoon to mill out a under hood fuse holder out of half inch aluminum. This will hold the Big 3 alternator fuse and the stereo system fuse.

Unfortunately not. I haven't had time to do anything but work. I haven't even had a chance to hit the trails in months. Not complaining! Buisness being good is a blessing, but I would like to get some of my projects completed one day.....
to those wondering about their central channel mount options, i see alot of people putting light bar switches and things above the rear view mirror, might be able to mount a center channel speaker up there to the roll bar as well without seriously inhibiting any wind shield space
and theres roll bar cover to run the wireing under!
