Default Problem with fuse or switch

I just installed the rugged ridge 3 x 6" HID lighting through their harness to a daystar switch. And it works if the switch is ON when the ignition is turned on. But the switch is off or switched off, then the lights won't turn on.

Anyone know if this sounds like a bad relay or a bad switch?

Your last sentence, first paragraph is confusing, but if you mean that the lights won't come on unless the ignition is on, then it sounds like you have chosen a switched source for your relay coil.

Yes, I did connect it to a switched source which will not turn on without the ignition being on. My real problem is that once they are turned off, they won't turn back on. They will come on if the switch is on when the ignition is started, but won't turn back on if turned off.

I am dumbfounded whether it's how the wires are hooked up to the fuse or whatever.

Where do you connect the wire that supplies power to the switch?

Spliced into high beam wire so they turn off when low beam turned on. This works going off and on no problem, but if the daystar switch is turned off or the ignition is turned on while switch is off, the lights won't turn on.

Can you copy the wiring diagram that came with the lights and post it here?

re-reading your post, do you have a wiring schematic on the Daystar switch, and can you post that also?
