Default Problem Installing factory fog light, jumper spot allready taken

Hi Guys got a 2009 jk that came without factory fog. I'm installing them on the offroad bumper. My only problem came when I pulled the "D" Connector, the two slots I was to use was already taken by the same color wires. Pin Cavity 11 WT/OR & Pin Cavity 16 WT/YL. The mopar instructions said the pin cavities would be empty. Anybody else had this problem?

Here's a link to the install guide: http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82211870.pdf

Yup. Either pull the wires/pins out of the D-connector and replace them with the pigtail included in the kit, or just cut the wires and splice the included pigtail onto the wires.

I tried to remove the pins from the D-connector, but it wasn't going as smoothly as I had hoped. Before I damaged anything, I just cut the wires and spliced the pigtail on. After a computer flash at the dealership, everything worked perfect..........that is until a week later when one of the crappy OEM bulbs burned out.

Well to safely remove the pin connectors you first have to release 2 tabs on the side of the "D" Connector and pull the black section from the "D" Connector to safely remove the pins.

I was considering pulling the two same color wires out of the "D" Connector completely but I thought I would be disconnecting something important. I never thought of splicing into them. Did you tell the dealer about your wiring problems?

But since I gotta get the CPU Flashed anyway I might just let the service guys deal with placing the wires from the jumper. What should I do? Piggieback the jumper wires or just let the service guys deal with the two jumper wires.

Any issues inbetween install and getting your ECU flashed?

I had the D-connector completely separated. The problem was that the pins have little barbs on them to keep them in place. I didn't care about destroying the pins, but I wanted to make sure I didn't damage the D-connector. If you screw that up, the new pins will never stay in place. i didn't have the proper tool to remove the pins easily, and the normal paper clip trick wasn't going smoothly. So, I opted to just cutting and splicing the pigtail onto the existing wires. The two wires that are currently in the D-connector do nothing......they dead end somewhere in the harness, so cutting them or splicing into them has no effect on anything else.

I didn't really consider it a "wiring problem", and I didn't tell the dealer shit........I just told them that I installed factory fog lights and needed my computer flashed to activate them. They charged me 0.5 hours of labor to do it and never said a word. There were issues at all.

Its up to you what you do, but if I had to do it over again......I wouldn't even screw around with trying to remove the pins. I would just cut the wires and splice from the start.

thanks for the info, especially about the two current wires in place not leading anywhere. I'll do some splicing this afternoon. then go get it flashed here in the next couple of weeks.
