Problems after J30 flash
Was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem and how they went about getting things back to normal.
I had a aftermarked Eclipse AVN726E installed into my 08 JK last november by a professional audio shop. Everything was great! great tunes with land nav to boot. looks great in the dash as well but this all came to a end last month! I took the jeep in for a oil change at the local dealership, they informed me about the J30 flash that was needed and was going to do it with the oil change. no probs right? wrong..
I took the jeep back home and put it in ther garage. the next morning I went out and it was dead. couldnt get anything out of the battery. Called the dealership and they sent me a tow. After they looked into it they said that my yellow top was bad and they had to replace it. I thought strange, then they stated that if I didnt put a factory battery back in they were going to have to charge we for the tow too, you know "not under warrenty" I agreed, thinking i would get my yellow top back. again not the case. As I returned to pick up the jeep I found a $237.76 bill and no yellow top. Thay disposed of it for me and charge me for the disposel fee and the cost of a factory battery. I was alittle aggitated but life goes on.......for about 4 days it did
As i turned the key, the windshield wipers came on...so i tried to turn them off, they were off! I looked at the instument cluster and every light was on! confused i turn the jeep off and started again. same thing. all lights, wipers on and alot of chimes and the words "no bus" The engine would run but I had no speed or tac and no turn signals. I sat there mistified in lights and chimes. I called the dealership back from inside the jeep and explained everyhting that I saw. They were confused as well. Then asked when I could get the jeep to them. The first question I had was...it is safe to drive? they didnt seem to have any worries, so i started the 3 mile trec. driving through traffic with lights flashing and your wipers going on a sunny day gets ya noticed haha. I get there and they go to work.
no more than an hour later i get a call saying they really dont know whats doing this and pointed the finger at the only variable....the radio. I go to pick up the jeep and try to get any information from them and they keep saying its the radio and it has to come out. I do my best to tell them that it has been great for 5-6 months now and that I didnt have any problems with my jeep untill I brought it in for the oil change. after that things went down hill. I really dont think he cared, his mind was set on that the radio was the cause of the problem.
I then started my quest to find the answer to this problem. I talked to the audio shop and they think that the j30 flash smoked the C2R-CHY4 interface that they used to instal the Eclipse nav system.. The dealership say that it is becuase the jeep "brain" thinks that the radio is getting jacked and this is it warning. other thoughts range from the radio is putting out interference, the radio is bad, something got messed up when the uploaded the j30 flash?????????
I am lost in what to do besides throw money at it an hope everthing gets back to normal. I do not want to lose this great nav unit or the money I paid for it, nor can I stand to have a $600 a month investment chilln in the parking lot. I do have a great time driving my trail rig everday, just not looking forward to the long list of tickets I might recieve for not being street legal
This "error" does not happen all the time. sometimes I get in and averthing happens like normal. no wipers or chimes and the radio is good to go. if I turn off the key I have a 75% chance of returning from my destination with no radio only chimes and wipers to keep me entertained!
Any thoughts?????
Thanks
