Purpose of additional lights
I confess. I love things that light up. I have 3 Hella 500FF's on my jeep. I bought a set of LifetimeLED 4" round lights (unsure what beam pattern off the top of my head). They are yet to be mounted. I want to add some rear lights for backing up and lighting areas when I'm behind the jeep. That's all fairly obvious. There are so many options for mounting locations on the front of the jeep. I really like the windshield light bars across the top of the jeep and the look of the dual windshield mounted lights. Then you have fog lights, spot lights, flood lights, driving lights all mounted on current heights on the front of the jeep. Can someone give me a breakdown of what you use the different light mounting positions for? As much as I love lights, I don't want to light up my jeep like a UFO with redundant lights, and melt my alternator and battery anytime I flick them all on lol. What setup will give me the most efficient use of lighting?
I love lights! I use em all to blind assholes that cut me off or driving with high beams on lol
But I got them for offroad purposes
-20" dual pattern- throws light a good distance and spreads the light out
-50" dual pattern- throws light really far and wide due to its high mounting point (nearly triples the output to the brightness had by my 20")
-(3)Blitzpro Hawk 6D driving pattern lights- (2) mounted on corners of front bumper at 45 degree angles to throw light to the sides of the trail. (1) mounted facing rearward on my Jerry can carrier for some light out back
- PIAA 520 Series lights with ion yellow bulbs mounted on the windshield. I pretty much use these when it snows, amber light makes it easier to see in fog, dust, snow, and heavy rain
-Gen2 Trucklite headlights-hell of a lot better than stock

That's a sweet lighting set up! Do you have the rear light wired to come on as needed or with the back up lights only? And off topic, but how tall of a cb antenna is that?

Thank you! All my lights are wired separately. 50/bumper lights (20" & (2) Blitzpro)/ rear Blitzpro/ 2 piaas
I have then on 4 switches. Think I miss go to 5 switches tho and add two more Blitzpro on rear corners at angles and have the 4 corner lights on their own switch. And the antenna is a 5' Firestik 2 on a 3" spring

And u were asking about all lights. I also had (8) 130watt KC daylighters on my old ram, some spot and some flood. This long range kcs definitely shoot light a lot farther than any led bar I've ever seen but where I live that does me no good really, great for the desert tho... The floods are great but don't appear light like the leds.... that's why I went with leds this time around.

Good question. First, the rear: I insisted on a rear bumper that had real back-up lights--two PIAA 55-watt fog lights in addition to the OEM lights. They work with the OEM lights.

Front: Again, insisted on retaining the front bumper fog lights. Replaced the terrible OEM headlights with IPF headlights, but swapped out the blue-tinted bulbs (too kiddy car for my taste) for a $20 pair of Sylvania Halogen lights. Also added two KC driving lights to the bumper. The fog lights illuminate right in front of the Jeep, the headlights on dim just above that, and the driving lights even further out than that, making a nice wall of light along my direction of travel.

Note that I replaced those hideous looking KC rock guards with clear guards with a far less obnoxious KC logo on them. Those clear guards are also available in amber, if you like.
Finally, on the overhead rack I've added four KC long range lights. While their primary light output is way in the distance, their primary use is when the other lights are unusable--such as when river fording (Note: When hot glass contacts cold water, it may crack. Let your lights cool down before river fording).

I originally had them at the front of the rack without a forward extension, and that worked nicely in the distance. After I added the front rack extension, I had to move them forward, so they illuminate the hood area. It is a bit of a distraction. You can see what all of that looks like at about 2:00 in this video ...

All aftermarket lights on the front are tied into the sPOD, which is connected to the auxiliary battery ...

^^^That's not me, LOL. Friend who helped with the install.
One final last lighting change was the blinker mod. When my turn signal is active, the marker light on the fender also blinks ...
