I'm looking to replace my current REN with a RER GPS Navigation unit. I'm looking at ebay and have a question, do I have to get a unit that was made the same year of my vehicle or later? I have a 2010 and all of the units I find are from 2008 or 2009. I know that I have to purchase a High Speed unit (to match the BUS) but I don't know if there is any reason if an older unit (from 2008 or 2009) wouldn't work.

 

I would. They changed them from 2007 till now. I think your good if you go 2009 and up... Has to do with canbus.

 

Ok. Would my vehicle reject a 2008 RER? It seams like all of the GPS devices on ebay are from 2008.

I can't find the thread. But call your dealer... Give them the part number on the my gig... They van tell you if its high speed or low speed. If it is a high speed canbus you'll be fine.

 

You should be good. I have a 2008, and I'm running a Mygig RER from a 2010. One thing to note......if you have an iPod/iPhone and you want to be able to control it through the Mygig, then you have to get a 2009+ model. The 2008 and older units do not have the hardware to support it.

Just make sure you know what you are looking at before you buy one on Ebay. I went through hell getting mine (lots of emails and had to return it twice before I got what I paid for). Make sure whoever you are buying it from has a good reputation/feedback.

 

Ok now I'm confused. Should I be looking at a RER Navigation device or a RHB 430N device? I ask because I'm seeing references to the RHB being the replacement for the RER.

 

I don't know anything about the RHB units. They were not available when I was shopping, so I only researched the RER.

 

RER is compatible with 08 - 11. REC is compatible with 05 - 07.

RER can be compatible with 05 - 07 with lockpick v3.

In your case, all you need to find is an RER with a high speed bus.
