Default Quick remote start question

Quick question for people that have aftermarket remote starts. I put a Viper 5301 remote start in my jeep this weekend (had it installed at best buy). I just noticed that when I start it with the remote, the heater and radio kick on for a split second at start up then shut off, almost like a short. The engine continues to run, but the heater does not. I thought it was weird so I started it with the remote while sitting inside the jeep. I made sure the fan is turned on. When I get in and take over with the key the heater and radio come on.

Just thought I'd check quick before I take it back and have them tell me the jeep is different and that's the way the heater works.

Thanks for the input.

Doesn't sound right. I have a Viper SmartStart and my heat, fan, radio, whatever I leave on, comes on and stays on after a remote start. I'd take it back.

It should work the way you think, anything that was left on should turn on after the engine is running.
Back to the shop.

are you sure both the ignition (pink/white) and the MUX (multiplexed Violet/Brown) are hooked up correctly? The MUX wire controls some of the accessories...it is possible to have it start using only the resistor for the starter...

The factory system runs anything that was left on and turns on the parking lights but everything stays on until the auto shutoff after like 5 minutes

Having the same issue with a 2008 and Viper 5901.If you get it solved please post the solution and I will do the same.I have been told the bypass should take care of the accessory power through the MUX wire but mine doesn't.Another odd thing I noticed with mine is that if I shut down the Jeep with the remote after I have remote started it the radio and everything else comes on.

Default solved

I took it back in to Best Buy this weekend and got it taken care of. The tech said there was a resistor problem. Been working just fine since.

I didn't try shutting it off with the remote before getting it fixed so I don't know if my radio and fan would have came on then or not. Good luck on solving your issue... maybe the resistor note helps a little?

my jeep will actually shut-off 15 minutes after i start it remotely if i don't insert the key by that time. whatever i had running when i left the jeep comes on when i remotely start the jeep. if you accidentally hit the brake without turning the key on the jeep shuts-off(security feature) also the jeep does not unlock when you start it using the remote start.you have to unlock it with the other button on the remote(another security feature) that's how mine works anyway

oh yeah and you can shut the engine off by hitting the engine start button again if you want too. i also get a green confirmation light and a beep back that the alarm has acknowldged whatever button i hit. it's got like a 2000 foot range or something. if the alarm goes off or i am out of range when i try to star it/unlock it i get a red light flashing and a kind of buzz back.
