I found my random chime to be the seatbelt switch. Jiggling the seatbelt in the receiver is enough to cause a single chime but not illuminate the seatbelt dash light. Happens mostly on rough roads and offroad, which made me think it was a more serious issue, but was just my movement in the seat! I was very relieved when I discovered the cause!
