Hi All,
I have a 12 JKU Rubicon US Specs and I am in Europe where it is mandatory that the rear turn signals are Amber not red like the US models. And regardless of the law I need to be real careful when I turn off onto my road by my house as it is in a crazy turn - if the guy behind me does not see Amber he does not slow and I have a hard right in a left hand sweeping road after a blind downward hill.
I got stopped 2 - 3 times in Italy but talked my way out of it. Now in Portugal I was stopped once and did not get a good vibe from the Cop. He let me go but...
So legally and for some peace of mind I am looking at trying to get Amber turn signals into my Jeep.
I've read about getting EU spec lights from Amazon etc or at least rear lights with amber turn signals and have seen some nice one but have read that with the Wranglers you need to run a wire up to the front turn signals and tap in to get the Amber lights to work as they are not plug-n-play. Something with the CAN Bus of them - the rear turn signals are not seperate wires.
So I saw some rear Run-Brake-Turn LED strips that tape or mount to the rear of trucks and plug into the trailer plug - or can hard wire into the rear light directly - and some 'look' like a great solution.
But some are simple LED strip lights that look a little iffy and others are IP68 rigid LED bars.
Reviews are all over the place on the various models out there on Amazon or eBay.
Anyone using any type of these on a Wrangler and what are the thoughts/opinions?
Most I see are 60" but we need the 48" or a shorter 2-piece setup.
This one looks like an almost perfect solution for me since it it IP68 and a more solid unit but only comes in 60": https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...6PAMN03T&psc=1
This one is a LED strip like a lot but seems also OK at IP67: https://www.amazon.com/MIHAZ-LED-Tai...e%2C741&sr=1-3
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Mike

I will throw out an idea. How about tapping into the front turn signals and running a wire from each to a couple of KC Cyclone amber lights. www.kchilites.com/2-cyclone-led-light.html That way you won't have to worry about going from a turn signal/stoplight circuit to a two circuit system. Check out this utube video to see how to mount to a magnet.
Stick them above or below your current taillights. When you move to an area that doesn't require amber disconnect and remove if you want. Good luck.

For a quick affordable fix. I used a $20 x 30 inch led strip , zip tied to the C pillar, (amazon). Then wired it to a trailer hitch plug. Red driving-center along with yellow turn signals on the outsides. For some reason having left off the brake light wire the two yllw turn signals come on when braking. In keeping the oem third red light over the tire. I spliced in a small flasher. Collectively works well. Can’t be too careful at times. Best of luck
