Replaced touch screen on MyGig RER
The MyGig screen on my 08 JKU started flaking a few months ago and it's gotten progressively worse since. Wiped it down the other day when I was cleaning the jeep and it looked like Wolverine went to town on the touch screen by the time I was done. Found Navrepair.com on this forum and figured I'd give them a shot since I actually like the MyGig (probably in the minority around here).
Ordered a whole new door assembly and then had them walk me through how to install it. They actually sat on the phone with me as I did the work which I was impressed with. In the end, the new screen looks like new and it was pretty easy to replace.
I'm posting this in case someone is in the same situation and is looking for options. They had a 25% discount in Dec and another promo currently going in Jan. Not sure when it ends but I paid $192 out the door with free shipping. And I just sent my old door assembly back which they will refund me $40 once they receive it. So $152 all in and now my radio looks like it did the day I got it.
Hope this helps someone out there.

They have videos on youtube of how to replace the RHR and RBZ but they haven't posted an RER video. But they walked me through it step by step. Probably took 10 minutes to get the screen completely off the MyGig which included me being a bit gentler than I needed to be simply due to inexperience. Once you get the unit out of the dash, there are a total of 3 Torx 9 screws to be removed and you have to unclip 3 ribbon cables which just pull right up.
Didn't think about pics because they said they would be posting the RER video eventually.
From memory, below are the steps. Only tools needed once you have the MyGig out was a driver with a Torx sz 9 bit and a small screwdriver.
To put a new door assembly in, follow the above steps in reverse order.
Hopefully this is helpful for someone looking to do this themselves. When you put the ribbon cables back in the clips, just make sure you click the clips back down. Otherwise you'll put the MyGig back in the dash, turn the ignition key and get nothing when you turn the radio on. This will cause you to drop a few F bombs, sweat a little bit and then open it all back up to realize you were sloppy on one of the steps. Which hypothetically happened to me.

From memory, below are the steps. Only tools needed once you have the MyGig out was a driver with a Torx sz 9 bit and a small screwdriver.
- Remove the MyGig from your dash using one of the many write-ups on the forum or on youtube
- Once you have the unit out, remove the 2 Torx screws on the top of the MyGig that are towards the front face (only ones there)
- Using a small screwdriver, pull the top metal shell up and tilt it towards the back of the unit (only way it will allow you to tilt). There are two small openings on the side of the unit that you will see can be used to pry it up a bit.
- Unclip the ribbon cable connecting the top to the main unit by lifting the small black tab (only one you'll see). The ribbon cable will slide right out. Set the top to the side.
- In the front of the circuit board (towards the face of the unit) you will see two ribbon cables. In between, there is another Torx screw. Remove that screw.
- Unclip the two ribbon cables on either side of the screw
- On the side of the MyGig unit, you will see two metal tabs connecting the main housing to the front of the unit. Pull those tabs out (takes a bit of force) so the front face of the unit separates from the main metal case.
- Once loose, work your way around the front face separating the face from the main metal housing.
- The only parts that are locked in are the two metal tabs mentioned above that you will find on the left and right side of the radio face.
- Once you remove the front face from the main housing, on the front of the unit, pull open the door assembly and you will see two arms underneath that make the door move.
- On each of them, you will see a metal pin that connects the door to the arms.
- With a small screwdriver, slide those pins (one on each side of the door) towards the center of the unit until you are able to separate the door assembly from the arms.
- Wiggle the door out of the tracks by sliding one side down and keeping the other side towards the top of the tracks.
- One of the ribbon cables you disconnected will slide through the slot behind where the door assembly is.
- The door assembly is now removed.
To put a new door assembly in, follow the above steps in reverse order.

This is great information. My screen started flaking a few months ago, and now it will skip my music randomly.
Looks like a great cheap fix, compared to buying a aftermarket head unit.

Hi everyone,
I figured I would post here since this was the first link I came across while I was searching for options to replace my MyGig digitizer. I ended up replacing the actual digitizer myself and posted a video on YouTube if anyone is interested in watching it.
I hope it helps someone out there!

Darn it. Good Video unfortunately I ripped the digitizer ribbon cable holder off the pcb so now it's ruined :(
