Default Replacement Horn?

I am about to replace yet another Horn. 3rd one in 2 years.

I go 4x4ing the horn gets wet and becomes a quiet squeaky horn, sounds like it came out of an old Austin mini.

I have tried positioning each replacement horn different ways to avoid water getting in them and I'm fed up with this hassle.

Anyone know of an aftermarket horn that I can wire strait in?
No air horns or modifications, just a decent quality horn that's not going to die because it gets a little water on it.

Hella supertones will take some minor wiring modifications, but they are practically 100% weather proof and is a nice upgrade to the factory horn. doesnt cost much either.

Are you running one? If so does the sound differ from stock? Better?

Yes, i installed them in the grill area a few months ago. It comes with 2 horns because they are different pitches. They are 118db, so everyone will deffinitly hear them when you honk, and yes it sounds ALOT better than stock. They are built very well. I am sure you would be really happy with them.

PIAA also makes a similar design to the hella ones it seems. One guy wired the PIAA ones directly into the factory electrical wires for the stock horn. Could you do the same with hella? Or do you need to use their relay switch?

I have the HELLA super tones ( sounds like a ferrari on crack ) but they are loud and get the job done. I mounted mine behind the grill, after i painted them black, took some modification with 2-3" wide angle iron , self tapping screws, bolts, lock washers etc. it wires up with a relay also and it honks with the steering wheel just like the stock one does. I have been on the trail and went thru water and mud and they work just like the day i installed them. If you don't want to install aftermarket horns maybe try putting cling wrap or a condom over the stock horn to keep it dry. Just my .02 I have pics of what I used if you need to see them PM me and I will post them up for you. There is a thread on here also that shows about the same install I did. here is an old thread that has my pics in it https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...ght=hella+horn

I have complained about the Horn from day one. Sounds a little
If I didn't think it would get destroyed I would get a med. size air horn just to be obnoxious
