Default Researching Aftermarket dvd H/U with Infinity system

I have been searching forums about this and was wondering for a little help in the right direction. I am thinking of purchasing a JVC AVX-720 DVD touch screen combo unit. I have found people with the Inifinity system have used the Metra CHTO-03 wiring harness. However, the compatibility for this harness states it supports JK's up to 2007? Will this harness work, or do I need to get the PAC harness?
Thanks,

if you have and wish to keep the the Factory Infinity Sound System but just want to change the head unit then you will need The C2R-CHY4 Kit (http://pac-audio.com/productDetails....&CategoryID=26)

So far the items that I've researched for my double DIN 7" JVC-AVX720 are as follows:

1. METRA 95-6511 DOUBLE DIN RADIO DASH INSTALL KIT
2. PAC C2R-CHY4 [For CAN-BUS factory amp]
3. JVC KS-U30 USB AUDIO VIDEO iPOD INTERFACE CABLE [iphone video playback]

I have read too on a forum that I may need to also purchase an antenna adapter, but I have not received the H/U yet so not sure. Just want to have all my ducks in a row for an easy install.

Well after further research and contacting the JVC tech support I found out some interesting information in regards to the JVC KS-U30 ipod/iphone cable.

From JVC:
I understand that you are inquiring about our iPod cable. Note that the KS-U30 can physically fit the iPhone 4's bottom port, however the iPhone 4 will not be compatable with the stereo model you own.
The only recommended option to successfully stream any audio or video into your specific stereo model is to use the standard RCA Line In and Video In ports on the back unit. This will require using an iPhone AV cable that can connect from the top 3.5mm headphone jack in order to convert to these standard red, white and yellow RCA connections. You can purchase these AV cables through any stores that sell iPods or iPhones. Once this connection is made, just change the JVC unit's source (using the SRC button) until you locate "AV-IN". You can then stream any video or audio from your iPod to this unit. Note that this option will not allow you to control any iPod or iPhone, charge its batteries nor access any files from the JVC unit.

Ok my question for the Audio guru's out there is this. If I purchased this AV cable for my iphone 4, in order to charge my iphone could I splice the (USB) power cord into say, the
cigarette lighter? I doubt the USB if plugged into the back of the head unit would charge it?
Thanks

I installed the very same HU in my JK. I use a ipod video and the usb out of the back. It does charge it as well. This summer my HU got several drops of water on the face in a light rain. The water rolled down the screen to the buttons and FRIED. The screen is pure white, no way to see what the unit is doing. I contacted JVC several times and they were going to get back with me but never did. Although I liked the unit, I will never purchase JVC again. The water was on the screen for a very short time. I stopped the Jeep, opened the back to grab a towel and my front panels, dried the screen, put the panels on and it was done.

I did a writeup on my JVC radio install a while ago, it may help with your install. Mine is a AVX810, so it should be the same install. I hooked up all the bells and wistles to it too. Rear camera, Bluetooth, iPod interface. I had to use the PAC harness with mine because of the factory amp. I was really debating on if I should bypass all the factory stuff and run my own speaker wire but in the end it was very easy to install the PAC harness and have had very few issues. The main thing is lack of room behind the headunit for the huge wiring bundle I have now. Everything else I just put behind the glovebox. Here is the link to my writeup

good luck!

Yep you'll need the adapter for the antenna. I bought my headunit from SonicElectronix online and the guy who processed my order actually called me to ask if I wanted because I hadn't added to my cart when I ordered. One more issue I ran into was after everything was in, I had to trim the center stack bezel so the face could slide out to change the DVD. I think I covered it in the writeup. I had checked everything out once I installed it, but I hadn't put the center panel back on. Everything was good, then I went on a drive and wanted to change the CD and teh faceplate jammed. So just a heads up, to try everything out once it's all back together. Good Luck.
