Default Routing a wire through the firewall in a 2012

I just purchased an $pod and installed it lastnight. I had a problem routing the wire through the firewall because I couldn't find any holes available. My jeep is a 2012 w/ 6spd so the clutch uses the big hole on the drivers side and I didn't have enough wire to use the passengerside hole. (i am aware of the 2 holes that are commonly used for routing wires).

So not being able to find a hole I ended up taking off the windshield bracket and running the wire through there, basically behind the rubber seal for the windshield and right up to the switch panel.

My concern is if anyone else has done this and if they had ran into any issues. (water leaks, worn wires, etc). I will attempt photos once I'm done work in 12hrs, any input though would be great!

In your engine compartment on driver side, there should be a black plastic tube going into the firewall. It's a tube for rear window washer fluid. If you pass a coat hanger through that hole, it should come out next to your dash between the door and dash on driver side. Just make sure you get that side panel off first.

Ran mine this way too, without a hardtop, there's just a solid grommet there, easy to cut a hole through the grommet for your wire, and I didn't have to pull the side panel off, just peek up underneath your dash with a flashlight and you should see it coming through right around where the fulcrum of the clutch pedal is.
