Default Security System Lockdown?

Hey guys is it possible to lock the system down on the JK causing it to not want to turn on? I wired aftermarket lights to the ignition circuit and now it doesn't want to turn on now. All the lights work but it won't crank over when I turn the key.

Sounds like a Canbus issue. How did you wire it up? If you remove it will it start?

I used one of those wire tap fuse things to use a empty slot on the seat warmer slot so my lights turn on when i turn the ignition on.
I removed them and it still wouldn't turn on.

Still haven't figured it out, huh?! That sucks. It is like something in the ECM or TIPM isn't happy. It may need a dealer reflash although I don't know if that would even help. Something fried in the TIPM maybe? Definitely let us know when you get if figured out.

Try disconnecting the positive battery cable for about a minute, then try again.

Hey so I took it to the dealer and they have no idea what the problem is. They said they are getting power to the TIPM but nothing out so they want to start by replacing the TIPM first which they want $700! The bad thing was they said they don't even know if that will work but that is the first step they want to take.

Is it reasonable for them to start with the TIPM or do they just want my money?

The TIPM is more than just a fuse box. See Ron's thread here. It has circuitry as well. If there is power going in and no power coming out, then it may need to be replaced anyway even if it is not the issue, unless the security system disables the TIPM which I don't know. Ron gives a couple of options for replacing it in the thread.

I think you fried your TIPM...I'd check at another dealer or two to get prices for having it replaced!

Get a SPod and you can avoid this happening in future!
