Short Circuit?
Had some fun this morning with AAA. Took my jeep on a quick errand this morning, everything was fine. Got home, then decided to go check out some HID conversion kits at a local shop and as I turn the key there is just a loud clunk. Starter didn't even clack. Jeep was completely dead. Popped the hood and the fuse box was vibrating/buzzing? Then the battery water started to boil. AAA comes out and tests the battery, registered 4700 amps! Both baffled by that one. Meanwhile the headlights were lightly flickering on and off, but no power anywhere else. Long story short the tow guy freaked and disconnected the battery and towed it to the nearest dealer. Our preliminary assumption is that there is a short somewhere in the headlight wires, probably grounding to the frame? Battery may also be defective cycling within itself? Really not sure whats going on. The electrical system is stone stock, no lights or audio or anything ever spliced in. Craziness in my opinion.. Any opinions or similar experiences?
Not similar but my battery died after 5k miles. Dealership replaced it for free, no hassle.
mine just clicked, then nothing. Because of the canbus if there is a problem the computer won't let the starter even try...like it did in older vehicles.
