SMS harness/LED headlight/winch electrical issue
I own the SMS wiring harness for JK Wrangler headlamps, allowing LEDs to bypass the PWM electrical system and eliminate flicker by wiring directly to the battery. It also can be used with HIDs or similar after market lights get more power. I've had it installed and working for about a year.
Last weekend I installed a winch which also wires directly to the battery and noticed my beautiful JW Speaker headlamps no longer work. I even tried unwiring the winch and still no lights!
My assumption is I may have shorted out one of the Hella relays that is included in the SMS harness. Is that possible? Any other suggestions? I'm troubleshooting this before buying the new $37/ea Truck Lite harness. Really wish it had existed sooner!
By the way, the winch works great!!

It would be hard to short a relay, because it is probably fused before the relay, at least it should be.
It was a fuse on the SMS harness. I had forgotten it was there and separate from the relays. Quick trip to WalMart--probably the only place open 10pm on a Sunday with fuses around here--and lights are back in business! Problem solved.
If anyone is interested in buying my used SMS harness, it works great now. I would sell for $75--to help me pay for the truck lite anti flicker harness. I want to do this to simplify my wiring setup. They are selling for $120 on their site.
Only piece not in perfect condition is one of the relays was cosmetically damaged when I originally installed. Does not affect performance. I think you can actually replace the relay for about $9. Waiting to hear back from SMS/Rally Lights to confirm.
If you're running non-LED upgraded headlights (HID, IPF, Ciebies, etc) this is highly recommended to provide ample power to get the most out of your headlights.
