Default Sounbar Speaker Install

I know this has been posted a hundred times. I've read all of the posts and did the following.

I have a 2dr, 2012 JK with the Infinity system. To 'ease' into a better sounding system. I elected to do the soundbar first.

Installed 2 ohm JBL P662s speakers in the sound bar. It still sounds like crap.

Do I need to install JBLs in the front and replace the stock sub woofer with a new sub speaker and amp?

I intend to keep the stock head unit and would like to avoid a complete replacement of the sound system.

I'd appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks

The problem is the amp is weak. You need to switch amps and properly amplify the pod and the sub to get a real improvement. I am still trying to figure out how to swap out the OEM amp for an Alpine 5 channel, using the OEM speaker wire so that the install is easy without having to run all new speaker wire through the truck.

You may want to consider adding Dynamat and Polyfil to all your enclosures. I thought it helped a lot and cost lest then $82 on amazon.

It's a Chrysler issue actually. The factory system doesn't allow full wattage to the sound bar because of noise ... Yada yada. Something about not going deaf. There is a thread about splicing a wire to equal wattage to all speakers. It will sound better after doing the trick that some one posted. Stupid noise pollution. :-)

Best thing you can do as a first step is put those speakers in the front, not the sound bar. I've posted several on this topic... Search it up.

I am curious to read about this mod as well. I did a quick search and came up with nothing, do you happen to have a link or know the specific wording for the search?

Just think of it like your home theater system. Would you upgrade the surround speakers first or would you get better towers/center channel? Of course you would get better stuff up front. Same in our jeep. The front carries more signal and is directionally in a better place. Def polyfill and dynamat the soundbar to improve sound, but you really need to improve the front speakers to get the sound you want.

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, the front tweeters have the crossover built in the speaker assembly so if you want the highs to sound right you will need a crossover there. I did that and enjoy the how it sounds.

You are correct. Don't waste time in the overhead speakers. You will be disappointed. :-/ unless you are changing everything... Head unit, amp, speakers, etc.

Front speaks will be the best starting point. And head unit for more sound out put, more wattage.
