Default Started to upgrade to Infinity system.

Hello,

Well thanks to ebay and movielabs on this forum i was able to obtain, oem subwoofer and oem ampliferer for my jeep jk. Mine only came with the stock system in it and I know there are other threads on this but most usually get off the subject at some point.

Basically all i want to know is what is the next step in the upgrade. Do i need to upgrade my headunit to an infinity model, or is there an adapter i can buy? Do i need to find the factory oem wiring for the subwoofer and amp or can a audio dealership do this for me?

Thanks and yes i know its easier to go aftermarket but i just like to keep everything stock.

Thanks in advance

From what I understand from doing my own head unit replacement and decifering the threads on this forum. You will need the wiring that runs from the head unit to the amp and then from the amp to the sub.

Here is the thing... the Infinity amp only has two pairs of inputs. Right and left. The fading from front to back is handled by the CanBus singnal from the factory head unit. Trying to source a factory harness from a junk yard or wreck is going to be a pain in the ass. I was trying to separate the harness when I did my head unit replacement, but I was in over my head. Someone else on here found this site dto.vftis.com/mopar/main.asp you can get any wiring harness you need for the JK there.

The deal with the sub is that it has it's own signal from the amp. It is independant of the front or rear. So with the Infinity amp you will not be able to add more bass by fading the sound to the rear, like you can in most stereos.

I all reality, it would be a lot eaiser to put in an aftermarket amp. I would probably cost less in the long run. Both in money and headache medicine. You could also get with JulietKilo, he has taken the amp apart and mapped all the circuits, he may be able to help you out.
