Stereo upgrade time. Need advice.
Alright i have already installed the Kenwood DNX 5120, which i love. Now that i am doing high end audio at work, the stock infinity system isnt cutting it for me anymore.
I wanna add a Alpine PDX 5 along with 4 sps-600 6.5" coaxials. What i am wondering is since i have the infinity system, is there anyway i can keep the stock tweeters on the dash but eliminate the infinity amp completely? Since i am amping the speakers, would that fry the factory tweeters? Also is there a definitive answer on removing the infinity amp? will it cause CAN problems by just unplugging it?

I don't think the amp will cause Canbus problems. You might get error codes when you pull it out but a dealer can probably disable the amp with a flash. Try it now...Unplug the amp and drive around for a few minutes. Pull your codes and see if any come up.
You can leave the stock tweeters. Clip the wires running to them and splice those to the speaker wires from the amp. I don't think the stock tweeters are capable of very much power. Someone once stated 17 watts.
Plan B on tweeters: Get a set of speakers that come with tweeters. Those tombstones will fit most component tweeters on the market. Some people have stated that they have to do some creative trimming to get theirs to fit but it didn't sound like too much of a hassle.

yeah thats what i was thinking. I saw they have a sps-600c with a sparate tweeter so i may just go that route to be safe. Same specs as the regular sps-600 also. I may call the dealer on the amp thing if noone else speaks up. I know a few people have removed theirs, but noone has given a definitive answer on the topic.
