Default Stock Stereo Replacement Questions

I'm looking to gut the stock stereo and replace everything (Head unit, speakers, add an amp and sub) but have a few questions.

I have a 2010 2dr with the stock (non infinity) stereo system.

1) If I replace the head unit and run new wire to all of the speakers, do I need the PAC adapter? I dont have steering wheel controls or anything like that. Is there any side effect to doing this?
2) Is there a crossover that runs the front lower speakers and tweeters or are they driven separately with the stock unit?

Any other gotchas that I am missing?

I kept my stock (non infinity) head unit but replaced everything else I did not use a pac unit. Works great.

If you do not have steering wheel controls you should not need the PAC adapter.

Thanks, that helps. Any idea how the front speakers are wired? I'm going to replace the with a component system but i'm not sure where the main feed from the head unit comes from to connect to the cross over.

There is no crossover in the stock front speakers (from at least what i could find), the tweeters have a capacitor in them. you will need to use the crossover that comes with the component system. I recommend Infinity Kappa's, I had them in my MINI Cooper and removed them so I could put them in my Jeep. I only had 300 watts driving a 350 watt system (4 speakers and no sub) it was like a concert hall. Maybe I can make the Jeep sound like and outdoor ampitheater

Thanks for the help. I like the Infinity components, but I think Im going to go with a Polk setup since their db series is marine rated and that should help being in a jeep.
