I have been riding around for about a year with a blown out sub and speaker. Its time to upgrade but I have no idea on what to get.
I have looked at these on Quadratec.com and these sound like a good buy.

its not just a 8" sub, it is a 8" kicker solo-baric L5 and they kick ass! it also comes with a kicker amp. for the money its not a bad sub setup but as stated above I do not like the mounting idea either

 

I think it is actually a 10" sub and the part about the 8" is for the braket type depending on wether or not you have the factory 8" sub. I think for that price you could piece together two tens and an amp in a generic encolsure if cost is an issue. Just set it in the back and mount the amp to the box and you could easily take it out if you needed the cargo space. This is what I did in my old S-10 Blazer.

 

It is a kicker but, it still is expensive. There are better products out there for less. Pm me and I will give you a website address.
