Subs in soundbar?
has anyone ever put a couple 6.5" subs in the soundbar? would they even fit?
I know it wouldn't be earth pounding bass but a couple 6.5"s, some sound proofing in the bar, and a good amp would be better then nothing i would think. and you wouldn't loose any cargo space.

The biggest issue is how flexible the enclosure is. You'd need to find a way to stiffen the plastic walls and make sure its sealed to be effective. Even with that, the open air environment around the sound bar is probably the worst place for subs, acoustically.
But it'd be unique and cool too. So depends on what you're going for. Have fun.

I thought about this, but decided against it after taking some measurements. The stock location just isn't deep enough for any of the quality 6.5 subs that exist (which are few and far. you typically have better luck using home theatre 6.5 speakers for this purpose). Along with this, of course, you have the issues of flexing and a couple other problems. On that note, though, I AM still considering fiberglassing an extension to the bar, basically, to make it deeper and stiffen things up

I'm not sure your system would be "balanced"... and I'm sure "nothing" is be better ...
if you're getting an amp, just add a sub box in the back... You'll get better results & sound..
When you need the extra cargo, just unplug the box, leave it home and you still have your original setup...

I have been planning this same setup. The Kicker CVT65 looks like a real close fit (depth being the limiting factor) and that is only from the contours of the sound bar. I can find anyone that stocks them so I could do a mock fit before dumping the money.
But I did just see a nice box that matched the curves on the leading edge of the rear wheel well that has me second guessing the sound bar subs.
