Default tapping into the dimmer switch

I have searched the forum and everything points me to an orange wire with a grey tracer.....however no where can i find this wire......ive looked on my hvac controls and in the passenger side floorboard. i have a 2011 base model sport. any help would be appreciated

That's because your looking in the wrong spot. Look at the base of the steering column.

If you have a 6 speed, there is an orange/gray wire you can tap to for dimming and a black one for ground as well for the 2011+ auto tranny gear indicator, just remove the first part of the center console and it sits between the shifter and the cup holders.

how hard is the center piece to remove....i have never paid attention to it to see how it comes off, i have looked under the steering column but i think i may have to check that out first since it will be closer to my wiring

not hard its just held together with clips...the hardest part is removing the shifters knobs
