Default skip the ipod

Skip the Ipod and get a head unit that has USB input(s).

It's so much easier to drop some mp3's on a stick than to deal with itunes (or 3rd party ipod managers)

I have different usb sticks with different genre's on them. They keep getting cheaper and more capacious.

I have to say go with the Ipod. I have been an ipod owner from the beginning and it is the only way to go.

I run the ipod in the truck on the way to work. Plug the Ipod into my work radio and have tunes all day while I work. Plug it back into the truck to enjoy my ride home. Plug it into the system when I get home and enjoy tunes all evening if I want. When I want to be in my own world, ear phones go on.

Currently, I personally have three different Ipods and the wife has a couple. I am a couple shakes away from permenantly installing one in the Jeep.

I am yet to meet someone who made the move to the Ipod and regretted it, usually they only regret not getting the bigger version.

As for those that think Ipods are the cause of their poor parent/child relationship, you need to look somewhere besides the Ipod.

Earlier today I was eating luch at a 'meat and three' place in Hoover, AL and there was this kid listening to an iPod AND playing a PSP while his grandparents were taking him to lunch. Even as an iPod/Blackberry junky, I was annoyed that he would treat the other people at the table so poorly.

Kid needed a beating, if you ask me.

I would agree that youth these days tend to have issues with respect but lets not blame it on the electronics they have. They would only use some other means of showing their disrespect if they weren't hiding it behind ear phones and games.

Obviously this kid is a moron, the psp can be used as an ipod lol kinda freaked out I know that and have one. Still this thread isn't "How steve jobs and his white block ruined the world" the ipod is a great thing, everyone who loves music should have one and the only regret I have ever had was I wish I got the 80 gig. One of the best things is every model and generation uses the same operating style. I have a 30 gig video. My father has my original 5 gig and uses it everyday, If he wants to check something on mine I don't have to explain it he just picks it up and away he goes.

I have the 30 gig. video. It's a great accessory. music is endless and it makes waiting in the Jeep a breeze because you have a theater with the speakers cranked.

Here's a twist for ya....I had an Ipod Nano in the beginning. I won a 40GB Toshiba gigabeat in a contest and it came with a free month of service with Napster Play as You Go. I learned what I had been missing.....$12/month unlimited downloads to up to 3 mp3 players and I don't have to pay for each song. I've got 3 now, 2 - 1 GB players and the 40GB one and I'll never own an Ipod again. Check it out, but the mp3's with the Play for sure tag on them are as cheap at $69 or so at your local electronics store. Then just plug it into the front of your radio if you have the auxilary plug on it. My JK came with it............that was easy!

Anyone using anything but iPod??

I have a Sansa e250 (2GB) that I sometimes use in my Jeep. It accepts microSD cards so I can carry up to 10GB of music or audio books in the space of an Altoids tin.

Just so you all know, you can use programs such as Napster with an Ipod. You don't have to only buy music from itunes. Ipods will play just about any music format you throw at them.

My only issue with Napster is you don't own anything for the money you are spending. I would rather spend 12 bucks a month and buy a cd a month. As soon as your subscription with Napster ends you can't listen to all that music anymore.

Toshiba does make a pretty decent player but not a lot of accesories for it.
