Yes, blame Jeep.. Unfortunately. "they decided" (Jeep) to go with a company (Harman Kardon) that does the bare bone minimum with exceptional Navteq data. Now if you were lucky enough to get a MediaCenter 430N, that were available for less than a year, you could use MapInstall to load which ever map sets/types you want - but Jeep decided to discontinue and move to a "newer" Harmon based 730N, and somehow tell us it was better..???

I have a friend that has a trail mapped out on his portable GPS and I would like to "transfer" it to MyGyg.

Thanks and sorry for kidnapping the thread
Does anybody know the answer to this ? My gut feeling is that it can't be done but want to make sure.

Wow....new user, 2 posts total....both in this thread. It almost seems strange to me, that you signed up to this forum, just to contribute in this thread. By the sounds of both of your posts, it almost seems like you're a bitter employee of the MediaCenter 430N, since you mention the 430N being available and having all these great things that you describe, while criticizing the competitive company up and down. So if you rather have a 430N with all these great Garmin map features that you would rather have and they're still available like you described.....then why not just go buy a 430N, instead of complaining about the 730N?

BTW, I just checked out the new 730N RHR at the Detroit Autoshow and also saw the 430N RHB in the Black Ops JK. Honestly, I know the 430N uses the Garmin Maps and all....but the 430N RHB navigation and screen looks like a child's toy compared to the 730N RHR and from what I hear, half the stuff the 430N is suppose to have, doesn't work very good, or just doesn't have it yet and is waiting for software updates to be released. That's just from reading posts in forums that others have mentioned.

I dunno, I currently have a portable Garmin Navi as well as a MyGig RER. I take the Garmin along with me whenever I have to travel out of town and it works pretty good. The map view looks like something out of a cartoon, compared to the MyGig RER I currently have in my JK and the 430N RHB user interface and maps looked identical to that to me. I guess, if I really needed topo maps....I would rather just put them on the portable Garmin I already have rather than having to look at the cartoon network navigation screen all the time.

The 430 unit uses Garmin but from what I have heard it is not up to par with the one you stick up on your windshield for $195.
