Default Trans Temp

Is it possible to pull the trans temp off the on-board sensor in the transmission? See this for sensor...

This is my guess:
All you can pull from the sensor is a volt reading; up to about 5 volts.
You would have to get the chart from the service manual to convert to a temp reading, if there is such a chart.
In order to get said volt reading, you need a high impedance meter. An after market gauge will alter the reading the computer sees, changing the way the transmission operates. A regular analog meter, or an aftermarket gauge, might even cause some damage to the ECU or sensor.
ScanGauge II can do this through the OBDII connector, but the codes for Chrysler CANSF have not been figured out yet. Only those for Ford, GM and VW are on the ScanGauge web site.

yah, I'd stay away from that. Assuming the temp sensor is of the thermistor variety, you could either throw off the reading or screw up the Jeep's computer.

Why not just put in a new sensor?
