Default Tweeter Info

I know there are multiple tweeter threads on the forum but I can't find any that answer the specific information I'm looking for so I'm going to ask it here. Obviously I'm planning on replacing the ones in the dash very soon. Here are a couple of questions I have:

What are the absolute best tweeters on the market (regardless of price)?

If the tweeters come with a cross over are they required if installing them in the dash location?

What are the best tweeters recommended for the price (Best bang for the buck)?

Any other input anyone feels like offering feel free to Hi-Jack, I'm just looking for as much tweeter information as possible in one location.

Thanks in advance

Best... Is always subjective. It's an odd size tweeter. Most will come with spacers and you can use your imagination. I got a set of 3/4 alpines that worked well... I'd get the 1 inch next time. I think the Msrp was like $40-50.... I offered the guy $20 bucks because they were on his shelf so long the box had a ton of dust on it. They made a HUGE difference. I used the supplied cross over to prevent them from blowing out from my after market HU.

Where did you hide the crossovers? Any pics?

You can just stuff the cross overs down behind. There is plenty of room. You'll see when you pop out the side panel on the dash, There is room for them to hang down.

I had a problem with my crossovers because of size. I ended up finding a little space at the bottom of the dash to tuck them under. They are definitely necessary if you plan on pushing a lot of sound.

That tells me you didn't set your system up properly and tried to get more out of it, than it was designed to deliver.

Which system do you have?? The Standard audio or the Infinity system?

This will matter since the standard audio system has a built in cross-over where the tweeters are already crossed over with the front woofers. So if you add another cross over to this system, you're going to do more harm than good. If the speakers you get, come with a better cross-over, then you would want to remove the existing cross-over and replace it with the one that came with it.

The Infinity System does not have any cross-overs. Each speaker in the system has it's own amp channel and the low frequencies that would normally damage a tweeter are removed with a digital filter inside the amp. So you don't need a cross-over at all, in that system. Adding a cross-over to that system, would be just adding noise, phase shift and reducing the power going to the tweeter.

Thanks for all the responses!

I have the factory 130 Right now with stock non infinity speakers. I'm planning on changing the dash and soundbar to the Kickers, I haven't decided on tweeters yet. I also intend to go with the JL Stealthbox & amp... I'm not looking to hit 150 db LOL, I'm just looking to make it a nice clean upgrade. To add to all this I want to go with pioneer's new app radio that is expected to come out in the spring (SPH-DA100).

I know alot of people might find the box overpriced but I leave my top and doors off as soon as it hits 65+ and doesn't go back on until winter.

Any input or opinions are always welcome!
