I also intend to go with the JL Stealthbox & amp... I'm not looking to hit 150 db LOL, I'm just looking to make it a nice clean upgrade. To add to all this I want to go with pioneer's new app radio that is expected to come out in the spring (SPH-DA100).

I know alot of people might find the box overpriced but I leave my top and doors off as soon as it hits 65+ and doesn't go back on until winter.

Any input or opinions are always welcome!
You'll want to remove the factory cross-over and then replace it with the something that comes with the Tweeters, but technically you don't need to replace the cross-over because there is already one there in the stock system. I'm not sure where it's located though.

If I was you, I would look into buying a "component" system which would include the Tweeters, Front Woofers and Cross-over. That way all the front speakers and cross-over are properly matched to work together.

Personally I went with the Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 Component system. This kit comes with a 1" Tweeter and high performance cross-over. I highly recommend a 1" tweet, it's the biggest that will fit in the JK tombstone mounts and the 1" will give you more mid-range response than a 3/4" which is important to help keep the sound from sounding like it's all coming from your knees where the woofers are mounted.

i have the jl audio tweeter and the sound is fantastic

in the front i have kicker component speakers and i use that crossover for the jl audio tweeter

and in the back i just have coaxial kickers

the addition of the jl tweeter made a huge difference in the soundfield up front, it just sounds so much fuller having the sounds coming from above and below

What are the absolute best tweeters on the market (regardless of price)?

If the tweeters come with a cross over are they required if installing them in the dash location?

What are the best tweeters recommended for the price (Best bang for the buck)?

Any other input anyone feels like offering feel free to Hi-Jack, I'm just looking for as much tweeter information as possible in one location.

Thanks in advance
The absolute best tweeters are probably not sold as car audio tweeters, and would not fit the JK dash. Think hundreds if not thousands of $. MBQuart, Alpine, Infinity, and several others have top-line tweeters. The so-called competition speakers are always top-of line. Its a question of what will fit.

The tweeters absolutely should come with a crossover along with the woofer. The crossover should always be used even if you hafta sit on it! By far the best way to get a matched tweeter, crossover, and woofer is to buy the set ("components").

Best bang for the buck is often the second from top of line. Its often the same speakers with a missing feature or two.

Other input: No free lunch with speakers. Buy quality and buy a matched set of components.
