Uconnect???
I talked to a jeep csr yesterday and she told me that if any problems came about after the installation, that it would affect my warranty..which I expected a response like that....but, when I asked her if I were to buy a headunit from the dealer and even have them intsall it, she got irritable with me and stated "it doesnt matter what you do, if you change it or even have the dealer do it then it can hurt your warranty"....
but I have been told before from a different csr, that if the dealership does it, then it shouldn't be a problem? so I am a bit frustrated about it all lol mainly because I dont know what is true and what isn't.
The CarPlay units are nice, but there are also units that are far less expensive and will still give you ability to connect to you iPhone. Example my non-CarPlay unit has a button that activates SIRI, bluetooths to phone and I can use SIRI (or head unit to dial), can play music/Pandora (hard wire link) and use steering wheel controls, and I can hear iPhone map directions via stereo (note there is no picture on the screen).
CarPlay takes that up a level by integrating the Maps with picture on screen, has a text message feature as well, and more touch screen usability. That said, all depends on what you need/want to pay for.

Thank you for the info.
I have been leaning more towards a touchscreen that way I have a picture on the screen...mainly because I am hoping to later add a backup camera...and also because I would like to see the maps on the screen when using navigation instead of having to constantly look at a tiny screen on my phone when travelling.
Who knows, if I find a good deal on something that isn't a piece of junk, I may just go your route with a headunit and forget about the screen...Im honestly torn on what to do.
Good deal, I did not know that.
Ive never really cared on what kind of headunit was in my vehicle until I got my jeep, so I honestly haven't ever looked into anything until now. So I obvously don't know much about them, but I am learining lol I really appreciate your reply.

Some parts manufactures will not warranty there parts unless you buy them from their approved dealers only. Amazon may not be an approved dealer for pioneer.
He was talking about the warranty from pioneer. Jeep can not void your vehicle warranty because of an aftermarket radio. They can nit void warranty on anything unless you neglected or replaced the specific part that it bad. Jeep will not warranty you aftermarket parts. That is why she was getting testy.

Thank you for explaining that.
I was just having a conversation with a friend and they informed me that it wouldn't be a problem to the warranty if I were to put a different head unit in, but it would void/become a problem if once replaced, and something went wrong, like a malfunction or electrical problem that was caused by the headunit. My friend also stated that even if the "problem" wasnt caused by the headunit, that the dealership could just "blame" it on the aftermarket purchase and say that the warranty is voided.
Would you happen to know any facts about that?

Just to ease you mind. Radio head unit on on there own circuit. Any possible damage ever would stop at the fuse in the block and be to the radio unit only. Any damage beyond that would be a fuse block failure. So still jeeps problem. %30+ run after market. Check rubutrux.com. The use alpine restyle kits. I do not know the price tho. But those are brand new jeeps getting after market radios.
It is called small claims court. So many dealers will deny warranty just because they make more with you paying cash. I know a lot of people who have lost motors etc and ended up going to small claims.

Okay, I really appreciate your help. I will check them out shortly.
Hopefully all works out, we shall see !

What was explained to me, is that dealers to not have to honor a manufacturer warranty claim for a repair, if
a) it is for a part not installed by the *manufacturer*. Technically dealer installs also don't have to qualify as I understand, but many dealers will turn a blind eye when submitting claims to the manufacturer.
b) if an installed third party item had a *prove-able* impact on a covered manufacturer part. Example your lift kit, changes the angle of your driveline which cases an issue with your transfer case or rear end. But if you have a lift kit, there no way they could prove it impacted something like your power windows.
I get your concerns. No one wants to be in a situation where they don't have the warranty they paid for. That said you have to measure out the risk/reward of the situation. The *safest* way is to always buy the vehicle with the manufacturer installed options you want. Unfortunately, that is also the most expensive way.
Do some more research and make sure you are comfortable with your choices.. That is what is important!
If a dealership voids the warranty, take your jeep to another dealer and have them examine the problem. If they indeed find that what you installed didn't cause the problem needing warrantied, they can lift the void.
