Default Up date on XM install

Just got back from the tek geek and found out the aux in for XM thru the factory unit ( 6-cd dvd )wont be out for a few months so went with direct FM input for now, sounds great. had parrot bluetooth with LCD screen installed. that does tie into the unit and when you recive a call the stereo goes mute while you take the call, and it will upload your phone contacts so you know who's calling, even displays picture if you have that kind of cell phone, also had a markman remote start and alarm installed with a plain coded key thats alot smaller.its a two way unit thats lets you know the status of your car when you are away and it has a lot bigger range than the factory remote start system, heck the dealer wanted $500 for their system and the marksman was only $70 more. let me know if you have any questions. Pat

Can you not just get a standard aux cable (like to connect an i-pod) and connect it that way? I have the aftermarket Sirius radio, and thats what I did...

It's about the quality of sound, some have complained using the aux. jack has caused some problems.my super duty has the FM modulator and the JK has the FM direct and I can tell their is a differance.the best is to hard wire into the unit for CD quality sound but the fix for that is down the road.

I was under the impression that the aux connection was the best quality that you could get. At least thats what it says in the Sirius install manual.

Would love to see pics of what you've installed so far!

Could you be a little more specific than "some problems". I don't see what would be wrong with an aux connection input..its just an 1/8" stereo connection. Kinda hard to screw up that. did you get static or what's going on?

I'm using the aux input and haven't had any problems. sound is great, no static. 10 times better than an fm modulator.

as it should be...thats about as good as you're gonna get from a headunit. that's why i'm unclear on what "problems" he had.

When I've heard folks reporting problems with the AUX connection, it's usually ended up being a problem with the power to the unit, not the connection from the unit to the aux jack.

If you're getting line noise using the AUX jack, add a ground loop isolator to the power source & that should eliminate it.

Default Aux Problem

Using the Aux in and plugging the power into the cigarette outlet caused a major hum. I suppose the Ground loop isolator would work.

I would not want a permanent line input in the front of the radio. That is why I also did the inline fm modulator. I would like to change it out if a harness comes out. The quality still isn't there, but I am living with it.
