I dont have one installed, but I carry a portable plug in digital volt meter.. it plugs into the cig. lighter or power outlet.. it works great!.. autometer makes it I believe, plus you can unplug it and use it in another vehicle if you wish.. its great for winching, jumping another car etc..

I just rigged one like that not to long ago, used an old CellPhone charger, old test leads, and I plug it into my Fluke meter. I use it for occational trouble shooting and to fufill any electrical curiosity.

I would like to have a perm. mounted meter somewhere. Running 8-10 KC's would be nice to keep an eye on the charging system.

How about the Scan Gauge. It has the volt meter and many more gauges.

I just installed one about a week ago and I like.

I always thought the earth could use another SUN

I agree, a perm. mount would be a lot better for your needs. My solution above was just for easy testing, I wouldn't want it mounted in my Jeep.
