I got my Smittybilt light brackets, and going to pick up a pair of KC SlimLite to install on my Jeep.

I don't want to scratch the paint, in the event I ever take them off. So what can I put between the brackets and the body?

Thanks very much.

Default Mine had foam...

I bought a set off ebay and mine had a foam backing on them to protect the paint.

I bought a cheap gasket kit at Autozone. Traced the outline of the bracket and cut. I think the kit was like 6 bucks.

Could make a gasket with an old bicycle inner tube, just trace and cut out, should work.

My KC brackets had a foam gasket around them. I'm sure there are 100's of ways to do it but, I would just buy a gasket set from an automotive store and cut it to fit.

I've had very good luck with 3M industrial double sticky tape. It's got the consistancy of weather stripping but a little thinner and it compresses fairly easily. Plus it has the byproduct of holding the bracket in while you screw it down.

That's what I did too and it worked like a charm!

Put 1/16" wetsuit material on my MBRP's, you would never know it was there.
