Yes to both. I had no issues with the install...other than the sales rep gave me the wrong model at first and I didn't notice the terminals were reversed until I got home.

The bluetop deep cycle is identical to the yellowtop specs wise. as you noted the blue top has the extra posts.

I had heard..albeit a long time ago....that deep cycles batteries werent good as a main battery for auto use because they take longer to charge back up...any truth to that?

I just popped in the group 35 platinum today. I like the extra room it leaves because I can hid relays back there.

The red top is good for starting but not for all the accessories I have. I think the diehard is the best choice.

Two things... First, if the lights are dimming with accessories on and/or bass "thumping" while the vehicle is running, it would be better to upgrade your alternator or install a capacitor... As for the blue top optima, I believe it is designed for marine applications, correct?!

I highly recommend that you DO NOT go with Optima, they promise the world but do not deliver. I have used yellow and red tops in various vehicles and they never go the distance. They do get replaced under warranty, but that is still leaving you on the side of the road.

Some of the Land Cruiser guys at IH8MUD recommend Odyssey Drycell Car Batteries as the best on the market, though there are plenty of good batteries. I would also recommend: Interstate MegaTron, DieHard, and the Costco (Kendall Gold I think?)

Good luck with it.

Yes that is on my list. I have a capacitor laying around but haven't found a spot to put it. Either way, that won't help with my auxiliary lights or winch. The blue top is a yellow top with a blue shell and extra terminals on the top. It is good for Marine applications because of the ease of removing accessories each time you change batteries or add a temporary accessory. Which also comes in handy with jeeps and all the add ons. I've had a yellow top in the past and it wasn't terrible but I wanted to switch to diehard this time around. So far I'm happy
