What size is the cigarette lighter?

I got a smokeless ashtray from my local auto parts place, and was looking at the cigarette lighters, and don't see Jeep 2008 Wranglers listed. I was wondering if anyone knew what size the cigarette lighter is. I could go to the dealer, but they want almost twice the money for one. I don't figure they made a lighter socket special for the JK, so if anyone knows what the replacement part is, I'd appreciate it.

You should be able to pick one up from auto zone or walmart or where ever... you shouldnt need a special one. Im pretty sure you can go with a universal cigarette lighter

I looked at them. There are multiple variations of the lighters for different vehicles. None say 08 Jeep Wrangler.

are you looking at the whole socket assembly or just the lighter??

I took one out of a tercel and it worked, once that one burnt out I used an f-150's.

I broke down and went to the dealer for it. I read some stories about what can happen with aftermarket lighter assys, and since they are all different, I decided I'd rather not take a chance on having the new JK burst into flames.

WHile I was at it I had the oil changed and the tires rotated. Hard to believe I've put 2400 miles on it since I bought it. So, I am good for a bit, I guess.

Thanx anyway for the help.

I didn't know that about the chevy ones, learn something every day!!

They might. But they have a coil in them that is designed to get hot. For the extra 10 bucks, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Even if I do have an extinguisher.
